Tree Shirts

Tree Shirts is an apparel company featuring hand drawn designs silkscreen printed onto fabric using water-based ink. For each design there is a story that represents a tangible, intimate, and unique bond with nature.

In the beginning of my senior year at Connecticut College, I began taking print making classes where I was encouraged by Timothy McDowell (a mentor and friend of mine) to integrate my hand drawings with printing techniques like wood block, linocut, solvent transfer, and cyanotype.

The techniques that I was exposed to, as well as the work that I produced in Professor McDowell’s classes sparked the idea for Tree Shirts. I asked several of my close friends to provide me with pictures along with descriptions of trees in their lives with personal significance. What began as a simple penchant for sketching trees has evolved into a venture to express the humanity of nature and the unique bonds that we share with it as individuals.
